There's something about Robbie, our M8 of August

“Dance is a tough sport, we’re athletes. We put our bodies through hell 9 hours a day.”

Our M8 of August started his dance journey at the tender age of 7 and he is the living breathing example of working hard to make your dreams come true. And never forgetting his humble beginnings and the sacrifices his family made to help him get there!

As talented as he is ambitious and driven, there is no doubt that Robbie will achieve any goal he sets his mind to. As if winning So You Think You Can Dance Australia when he was a mere 18 years old wasn’t enough!

World tours and then a gig as one of the professionals on TV’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’ ensued, further cementing his footing in the highly competitive and sometimes cut-throat industry. But this young man has his head firmly squared on his shoulders, bolstered by the love and support of his family. You just can tell, the sky’s the limit for this legend!

NAME: ROBBIE KMETONI

AGE: 30

WHERE IS YOUR HOME TEAM: Born in Sydney, Australia. But I come from a mixed European background. My mother is Italian & my father is from Slovakia.

WHO DO YOU PLAY FOR NOW: I now live in London. Moved there in 2018 and am so grateful for the life this city has given me so far.

WHAT’S YOUR GAME PLAN: I am always aiming for bigger and better things. Constantly creating goals whether they are short or long term. However, my absolute goal is to be a star in my field of work, creating and producing world-wide successful shows that have my name proudly stamped all over it. From that, I would love to give my family the life they deserve as a thank you for everything they have done for me to get to where I am!

WHAT’S YOUR STRATEGY TO ACHIEVE IT: Hustle baby, hustle!! It’s real gritty and a continuous grind in the entertainment industry. Networking, taking classes, meetings, dinners, drinks, early starts and late finishes. No days off! Moving to London was my first major step in the right direction.

LIST 1 OR 2 ‘GOLD MEDAL’ MOMENTS IN YOUR LIFE: Winning So You Think You Can Dance Australia 2010 season 3 when I was 18. That was a true moment of gratitude and happiness!

Another would be performing in front of  a crowd of 70,000 people. It’s a euphoric feeling I can’t explain in words.

WHO ARE YOUR CHAMPIONS: I look up to my family. My mum, dad & my 2 older brothers. They are and always will be my everyday heroes!

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT MAKES AN EVERYDAY CHAMPION:  Kindness, patience, focus, and a lot of personal awareness. Life is not always about you. Be kind!

WHAT’S YOUR MOTTO: Dream big! No one stops you from getting what you want but yourself. Enjoy life, work hard, make every day memories.
